The Scope of Work Plan

Just Keep Moving

1. By experiencing movement in an activity, teacher candidates will see how movement impacts their ability to learn and stay focused throughout a lesson.  Teacher candidates will be able to see the evidence as to how movement affects Early Adolescent development and academics. This presentation will help provide understanding of the impacts of movement and how they can be implemented into their own classroom.

3.  OBJECTIVES:

• Future teachers will be able to understand the impact that physical movement has on student's success.
• Future teachers will be able to state ways in which they will create movement in their classroom.
• Future teachers will be able to experience how movement affects their own ability to learn and stay focused.

4. Teacher candidates will be given the tools necessary to implement movement within their classroom, evidence to show the positive impact that movement has for students, and fellow educators examples and opinions through the use of the Facebook page.

5. Located on the Facebook page, links to related articles, videos, and ability to interact with 'Just Keep Moving' polls and discussions will be available.

•  The group will remain seated in silence, and complete a 2 minute activity
• The group will then have the opportunity to get up and move for 2 minutes, and then sit and complete another activity for 2 minutes.
• (4 minutes) Instructors will discuss the resources and facts that prove how movement affects students.
• Brain break- Get up and move for 2 minutes
• (3 minutes) Go to Facebook link and answer the poll on how movement impacted the activities, and comment on how and why they would use movement within there classroom 
• (5 minutes) Come to a conclusion on how and why future teachers will implement movement within their classroom

5.  For this presentation, we ask that teacher candidates have access to a computer and WiFi, as well as an active Facebook account. The presenters will provide directions to an article through the Facebook page that the audience will read during the activity. Facebook will be the hub for all resources used in this presentation, allowing for full access for the audience to use through the presentation and the choice of retrieving information for future use.  

6.  Example Challenges or Restrictions: Member of the audience may not have an active Facebook account or finding ways to implement movement for student with disabilities. Another issue may include school systems that have firewalls against Facebook.
